Harnett County Airport, our club's airfield, is located in the central coastal plain region of North Carolina.
This region is very sandy, mostly flat andlargely agricultural. The best seasons to fly are Spring and Fall, since the weather is moderate
and the visibility is excellent. The Summmers are hot, but thermals to carry you up to the coolness of
cloudbase are plentiful.
Harnett County Airport, HRJ, is a modern airport with a 5,000 foot paved runway and glider grass landing areas to the right
of runways 05 and 23. It is located 1.3 miles south of Campbell University off of HW421. The Cape Fear River lies about 200 yards
off the end of runway 05. There is a large air-conditioned FBO building with a friendly, helpful staff, clean bathrooms
and a pleasant lounge for visitors and guests.
